As a free service, DivotTrack™ has provided a few calculators that can provide you with your course handicap and round index.
Please click the "What’s This" tabs by each calculator to learn more
about what these numbers mean and what they are used for.
*These calculators are for informational purposes
only and should not be considered official calculations for use in any tournaments or competitions.

Course handicap is the DNA of the USGA Handicapping System. The result of the calculation tells the golfer if they get to reduce their score on each hole and by how much. This number allows the USGA Handicapping system to work by ensuring that golfers of differing skill levels can compete against one another, and to do so fairly regardless of where they are playing.
Course handicap is a result of the addition of "slope rating" to "course rating" as factors in the USGA Handicapping System in the early 1980s. A player's scores and the course ratings and slope ratings of golf courses played are used to calculate a "handicap index."
The average slope rating is 113. So course handicap takes into account your handicap index, the average slope rating of 113, and the slope rating of the course you're preparing to play. The calculation is this: Your Handicap Index multiplied by Slope Rating of Tees Played divided by 113.
This calculator simply shows the handicap for one round of golf played. Enter in your score, the slope and rating of the course you played to
see the handicap for that round. This is a similar method to how the overall Handicap index is derived although the official USGA method
incorporates the use of more than one round of information in its process. Please note that this calculator is for informational purposes only and is not meant to be viewed as official.
A USGA Handicap Index is a numeral, to one decimal place, that represents a golfer's potential for scoring. A handicap index of 15,
for example, describes that on his or her best day, a golfer will shoot a score of 15 over par. A handicap index is not an average of
scores but rather a complicated formula that numerically represents a golfers best potential.
This calculator is for informational purposes only and while the calculations are similar to the USGA method, this is not an official handicap.
